Acoustic locators LKA
The acoustic locator LKA is designed specifically for the needs of in-line inspections. It is designed to track the position of the pig in the pipeline by sound. The high sensitivity of the locator makes it possible to determine (hear) the movement of the pig at a distance of up to 1.5 km along the pipeline axis.
The approach of the pig is well monitored by a series of characteristic sounds when passing the welded circular seams of the pipeline. The number of sounds in a series is determined by the number of cuffs on the pig.
The remote microphone is installed on the ground above the pipeline or on exposed metal parts of the pipeline. An external cable allows you to receive a microphone signal at a distance of up to 10 m, being, for example, in the cab of an escort vehicle.
Convenience and ease of use
For ease of installation on open metal parts of the pipeline, a magnet is built into the base of the remote acoustic sensor.
A wide permissible operating temperature range, a sealed remote acoustic sensor (geophone) and a sealed control unit housing allow the acoustic locator to be used in any climatic conditions.
All adjustments and switching of operating modes of the device are made using two buttons on the control unit. Listening is done through high quality headphones.
An eight-digit LED indicator is used to visually display the received signal level and control the gain setting. The brightness of the LEDs is automatically controlled by a built-in photocell.
When listening, it is possible to quickly adjust the volume level and select one of three frequency ranges, the bandwidth of which is optimized for long, medium and near detection.
Operation of the acoustic locator is as simple and intuitive as possible. Operating modes and control are described in detail in the instructions included in the delivery set. The instruction is attached in Russian and English.
